WORK-PACKAGE-2: STRENGTHENING OF NATIONAL MARINE DATA & INFORMATION MANAGEMENT CAPACITY.

The PSC recommended the following actions for the remaining project duration:

  1. Partnership agreements should be processed for Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Seychelles and Sudan.
  2. Sudan should use the funds availed to send their data and information managers for training at INSTM, Tunisia. It was also emphasized that Sudan needs to dedicate a significant portion of the resources to acquisition of equipment.
  3. Atlas training should be organized for Comoros at IHSM, Madagascar, and for Guinea and Mauritania at CRODT, Senegal.
  4. The Project Manager and Regional Coordinator for BCLME region should explore the possibility of organizing activities jointly with BCC, including training courses on data and information management for Angola, Namibia and South Africa.
  5. The Project Manager should send copies of all Partnership Agreements, National Work Plans and Progress Reports to the ODINAFRICA Regional Coordinators so that they can assist with follow-up on implementation and reporting.
